Scene explorer display issues

I can no longer see my layers (there are quite a few) in Scene Explorer... all I get is the default layer and it is empty. If I click the toggle for list by Hierarchy all my objects are listed, but going back to layers reveals and empty scene explorer window. I've 100's of objects all careful organized via layers so this is a real issue for me. Am I missing a simple toggle or has something gone corrupt? Thanks in advance for your help.

@Alfred.DeFlaminis

Forgive me if I am not doing this correctly, I'm having some difficulty getting my head around this forum. I'm attempting to reply to my own message and tag you in it in the hopes that you can shine some light on my problem. I had drafted another post with links and a screen shot but lost it when I hit the Reply button so I'm trying again.

Here is a link to a solution but I do not know how to run this script... this does though show exactly what I am dealing with. Please have a look.  https://www.instagram.com/p/BhfuJBmnowoeCEQdOdwvwRDLDYMxkbDg8eXhgw0/

Additionally see the screen shot I've attached so you can see what I am seeing.

Thanks very much for any help you can provide... I need to get this solved asap.

Download the script that he had linked to, and save it somewhere on your computer.  In 3ds Max, find the Scripting menu on the top toolbar and choose Run Script.  Then navigate to where you saved the .ms file you downloaded.

By the way, Alfred is no longer a moderator here.  😞  But @hagen.deloss seems to be his replacement, and is doing a pretty good job of it, too.

Hello @Anonymous

Thanks for posting in the forums! From my understanding of your issue, your layer structure isn't appearing? Are you using Xref objects?

I noticed that you posted in this forum thread and I was able to help you out there, is this issue different/does the script linked in that thread not solve this issue?

What happens when you create a new layer?

I want to gather as much information as I can before proceeding so I can best help you 😄

Talk to you soon!

Hello @Anonymous

I wanted to check in and see if you worked through any of the potential solutions mentioned above? I would love to help out if you haven't found a solution to the issue.

It would be super helpful if you could add a post with how you decide to proceed, and your results. That way other Community members can benefit from your process 😄
