"Edit Working Pivot" not working (Max 2018, Update 1)

Basically when attempting to edit the working pivot via the Hierarchy tab, the gizmo will stay glued to the position of the objects pivot, no matter what I do - in transform and in rotate mode. This breaks scripts as well (which align the working pivot to sub-object selections).

Thank you for the feedback @RobH2.  I think 2018 took many good steps forward and update2 addressed a lot of issues users have been reporting.  There were also some improvements to responsiveness with big scenes and faster saving with scenes that have many objects in Update2 that I'm happy to see in there.

Best Regards,

Pivot appears to not be working with SP4.  Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.  Kind of like how objects sometimes disappear while you are editing them.  The object pivot will not always update and will instead remain fixed even though the pivot was realigned to an outside edge.  You will see the updated pivot position in show pivot but actual object pivot does not update.  This is basic functionality.  Things that have worked and been present for over a decade and now are broken.  Autodesk wants our money for *new* versions every year where they break significant parts of the program to *modernize* (does that mean make it work inefficiently and poorly?).  None of these releases are tested to any significant degree and the people doing the coding have no idea how the program is actually used.  Instead they implement their autistic logic on top of the interface.  The latest *redesign* of the gui to the failed flat design scheme implemented everywhere.  How sad that GUI design today apparently involves aping ****ty website design regardless of whether it hurts the overall usability and stability of the app.

Part of the reason flat design was embraced by websites is it caused users to linger longer on each page (because they couldn't figure out where anything was lol).  In an application for *work* however if it takes even one more click thah it used to for an action you have failed as a designer.  Use that as a metric and maybe fix all the existing problems before you force new features on users that no one wanted or asked for.  Pathetic.

I am running Max 2018.4 update and the working pivot is definitely not fixed. The gizmo randomly jumps to previous locations even when I working pivot is not turned on. Any help with this?

The pivot issue is still not resolved however sometimes check the pivot placement flyout.  I have noticed it often resets itself to *use selection center* which seems to lock your pivot to the object center regardless of how you have set the pivot on the object or whether you are in local reference coordinate system.  Verify that it is set to *pivot point center* which will respect the pivot point placement.  Other than that I usually reset xform and collapse modified before resetting pivots.    Sometimes I also go to the hierachy tab and enable affect pivot only, wait a few seconds and see the pivot snap from the center to the new pivot.  I often need to do this with grouped objects.
