My manager wanted me to request this feature b/c it doesn't seem like something that currently exists. Future dating ECOs. He said the system he used to use did this & surprised Vault doesn't.
Example:
Make a change to the drawing and check box future date release. Basically it would hold the ECO as closed, but the documents wouldn't be available until that date time frame would be reached. Then the shop could see it. The engineers could see it the entire time of course. But it wouldn't be available to the shop to grab by accident. This is useful for material that you need to use up.
To expand on the idea a bit.
- Have it send an e-mail notification when the time gets closer to remind the engineer that the date getting near just in case they need to extend the date or shorten it.
- Allow the shop in Thin client to see that the current revision has a future dated ECO pending for release. Same for the engineers. Like a little note next to the revision Letter/Number. When they look at the preview, they could see the current revision and the future revision.
