Any news about Robot 2018?

Do you know what's new in the 2018's version?

GREETINGS

OUT OF RESPECT, AT LEAST AUTODESK OUGHT TO CLARIFY TO ITS CUSTOMERS THEIR REAL INTENTIONS AND ROADMAP FOR STRUCTURAL DESIGN...

WILL THERE BE A REACT SOFTWARE? WILL IT BE A FREE UPGRADE FOR ROBOT USERS?

WILL THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN BE IMPLEMENTED UNDER REVIT? AND HOW WILL THE LICENSE MIGRATION PROCESS BE FOR ROBOT USERS?

WILL...?

WILL...?

ACTUALLY WE HAVE STARTED LOOKING AROUND AND IT SEEMS CSI SOFTWARE IS PRETTY ADVANCED

  • ETABS IS WAY ADVANCED FROM ROBOT AND SPECIALIZED IN TERMS OF BUILDING DESIGN...
  • SAFE IS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN TERMS OF RC SLABS DESIGN AND DETAILING (EVEN POST TENSION)...
  • SAP IS PRETTY COMPLETE FOR GENERAL ANALYSIS...

HOPE AUTODESK WILL REACT BEFORE IS TOO LATE...

BEST,

Hi Wassim,

I totally agree with you.....and consider that in the autodesk store on line there is no evidence of robot in the single product list and in in the AEC collection.......Smiley Mad

The question is: Autodesk has already stopped to sell robot??!!!

bye

Roberto

By the way, Mr. Brian M. Frank promised to reveal more about Autodesk future strategy for structural analysis and design in April. We all are still waiting (with the popcorn of course 🙂

It is quite sad really. I had high hopes for RSA but now I'm forced to explore other options. Its great that RSA combines a lot of modules into one but some of the other software out in the market keep up-to-date on codes, materials and have some additional features. One such software I'm looking into (for those curious) is RISA (https://www.risa.com/). Very useful for USA and Canadian codes.

My first thought when this was announced was that it would have been better if Robobat had acquiered Autodesk. This thought is now proven right ten years later I think.

Sap2000, sapbridge, all very powerful and constantly updated with new features. Not so friendly in terms of building the model and results output.
Probably the most powerful and more Robot alike is Midas gen, Midas civil . Very very powerful , friendly and similar to Robot the way you build the model. MAny other very good programs like Sofistik , and Scia.
None of them as good as Robot regarding being friendly and having outstanding support.
I still cannot believe we will be left without any answers for the questions on this thread

RFEM is very good, agree. For eurocode its very good software. But I like Robot 🙂 If one day this happens (no Robot anymore) and I will have to move to some other software I wish I could take with me such support like this one (Artur, Pawel, Rafal - these guys are awsome!) Totally the best support I ever seen/met.

You are absolutely right.

I had the pleasure to personally meet these three guys and appreciate their technical competence.

.......but I was speaking only about the software that could be in competition with Robot

bye

I would like to suggest that ROBOBAT(if it is still in existence..), buy back ARSAP from Autodesk.

Dear Pawel @pawelpiechnik, could you please give to RSA community the hope, that Robot will not be buried (as it was with all Robobat legacy)?

I'm sorry
I don t understand english well. To many words too many concepts .
Can someone explaim me if robot is died?
I'm happy to understand that they discuss with biggest Engineering firms,
strategists, developers... But they should understand that there are
thousand of engineers that live in real world designing Small house ,
buildings, canopies, facades, production plants! Real engineers just want
an useful software as it was 10 years ago!

AUTODESK bought robot and is responsible with robot millennium users!

Cloud, BIM, platforms... Are beautiful ideal concepts but real world
engineers don't need it. In real world at every scale in the kickoff
meetings the typical final statement is: "and at the end..... We need to do
all in revit 😞 ". The design continues with AutoCAD files (rhinoceros
files) shared like an illegal drug. At the end the revit is the sum of all
3d files from rhinoceros, IFC from fem models an the result is that the
file is unusable. This happen in archistar project's as in Small buildings!
I can proof it with famous projelcts were I'm directly involved now!
I'm sure, someone will substitute engineers with computers before that BIM
works in the real world.

Robot had the best interface, was intuitive, was easy, was one of the most
powerfull fem you just need to refurbish it and add small things like
material non linearity and so on.

Please inform us if you want respect your clients or if we need buy
sofistik.

Dear All,

Take the survey at the end of the blog , give clearly your opinion (if you wish by choosing the Autodesk Robot option).

May be our voice can be heard this time.

Thank you.

The question is not What you want, but What Autodesk can do.

I think - not mach in accepted term.

Marco, I think you hit the true points here... I cannot add anything...

I am afraid Autodesk's intention from buying Robot since day 1 was to kill it and integrate it in Revit...

In addition, the old CBS was the true rival of Revit (in its beginnings of course) which Autodesk killed also...

Revit has nothing to do with the structural design and it is a waist of time for structural engineers... as you said, they all want Revit and ALL projects end up submitted using Autocad...

Best,
