Any news about Robot 2018?

Do you know what's new in the 2018's version?

I dont think React or Robot  are dead, they cant be dead, even if Revit gets it all, structural analysis and design, still the main engine behind it would be Robot right? I dont think they would start making a completely new software, there is no meaning to that.

So what ever they have in hand now they will use to develop something new for structural analysis. What ever the case there is something new coming.

I think there are two possibilities here:

1) Autodesk is still developing React structures which would have BIM capabilities and seamlessly  integrate with Revit.

or

2) Autodesk is putting the Robot engine in Revit Structures therefore providing a more complete software with analysis, design and export of final drawings and detailing. for steel and concrete.

either way I am happy, i am only worried about the price Smiley Tongue

Perhaps...

But the problem I have was the lack of substantial updates in the last 2 versions. Looking at some of the other software in the market, they seem to be updating things much more frequently.

We are now looking for a 2nd structural analysis software in our company and we are considering Etabs and Midas Gen.

It seems that Midas is able to use the entire capabilities of the workstation ( http://images.nvidia.com/content/tesla/pdf/Apps-Catalog-March-2016.pdf ). Anyone knows how Etabs handles large models?

One of my biggest disappointments in Robot is that after the update in 2015 still takes too much time to complete analysis for large models, even using mutithreaded solver on Dell Precision dual xeon 2690 v3.

Thanks.

Hi Dan,

it seems you are a little bit confused about Midas, in fact NVIDIA is working only with MIDAS NFX not GEN.

You have to consider MIDAS NFX as a main competiror of ANSYS or NASTRAN or other similar FEM Structural/Mechanical solver.

Of course you can make structural calculation with MIDAS NFX but with "another point of view".Smiley Wink

Bye

Roberto

Hello, if you are looking for building and tower design, go for Étais. It is very powerful and building/tower oriented, performing code requirements... We are in the process of buying 4 licenses...

Best,

From what i hear MIDAS Gen is a very good software and one of the few that is capable of EC8 capacity design.

It looks interesting, but I wonder why the Robot Structural is offered  only for the United States market!!

I think the Robot Structural is offered to all over the world. You can check on how many countries it has design codes! https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/robot-structural-analysis-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHe...

Hi Pavlo.  I understand that.  What I was trying to point out is the fact that if you visit the webpage of the announcement for the worldwide sites you will see that the Robot, Bridge and Advance software, strangely,  appears only in the United States webpage and not in the rest.   Maybe I am wrong (hope I misunderstand this):    https://www.autodesk.com/site-selector
