NON LINEAR ANALYSIS - NO CONVERGENCE

Hi

A bridge deck model supported off cables is not giving reliable results and states an no convergence issue.

I have updated non-linear calculations parameters no no effect and tried the detailed structural correction option for whole structure, but it is not available.

Any help would be much appreciated, the model is as attached

Many thanks

Using "cable" element, it will be very hard to get all bars(stays) in tension.

Using normal bars  shall be better but it is also not guaranteed that all bars will be in tension.

Just for my curiosity , what kind of bridge is that where the deck beam is a hollow rectangular section 200mm X 100mm for a total stayed span of 136m ?

if you  modify the deck with a boxed section 2000x500x20 (example)  and impose large displacements with update of stiffness matrix and at every iteration and increment and it works well

A structure like this its strongly dependent from the relationship of elements, the geometry and the cable pretension. You should tune it carefully!
