Free Form Rebar

Hello Everyone,

i am Looking for a way to model the following rebar distribution as a free form rebar distribution, because i have 4 foundations Looking like this and with the Sketch command, Revit puts every new Distribution in the same rebar shape. That's a Problem because the Distribution/rebar looses its Connection to the Surface because it's not exactly the same geometry.

With the following link you will have Access to the sample file:

Thanks in Advance!

Please add more details with what you want to achieve (pictures, sketches)

Once you have placed some free form rebar (either aligned or surface distribution), you have the option to set it as "Bend" (workshop instructions parameter) and it will match to Revit rebar shapes.

Yes, the pictures didn't upload, sorry!

I want to create this rebar distribution. The rebar lengths A and B have to be variable.

I recommend you use the aligned distribution and use the following steps:

Select the 3 faces as the host surface

Host.png

Select the distribution path

Path.png

Set the layout, bar type, etc

After the set is created, edit constraints > select the align / close bar handle and choose a face to which the bars will be parallel

Align.png

Trim back the bars by editing the offset at the desired end

EditStartOffset.png

OR, use an additional geometry (that can host rebar) to trim back all the bars to a precise position

AddGeom.png

Select the set and change the workshop instructions to "Bend"; this will match the rebar to a revit rebar shape and extract the segment length.

The bars in a set can match to different rebar shapes.

To change the parameters extracting the segment lengths, find the shape in the project browser, edit the shape family and change the assignments of the various segments.

In my case, I didn't succeed to trim the rebars, it seems that the error has to be with the distribution path

I choose that edge, anything to be aware of to trim the rebar appropriately?

Best regards
