How to stop Background Processes?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Im working on a MEP model with HVAC services and I was working away and tried to save it but a message popped up and saying 'cannot save this document because duct systems are calculating' Ive found the background processes icon on the status bar to monitor them but cannot cancel them or stop them so I can save my work. very frustrating as its been doing this for over 3 hours now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've had to use that method dozens of times, and it works flawlessly for me and other computers in my office with the same issue. I also tried renaming the RevitWorker.exe file but Revit won't start without it. Ending the process so far has not been an issue and Revit will keep working fine without it running in the background processes. Reinstalling Windows and all the applications worked on one computer but on another it didn't help.
@lmitroL9J69 If you had an issue with file corruption, it's probable that the corruption was the cause of / prior to the background processes issue, rather than the other way around.

Yeah, Revitworker is not the cause of the problem. Stopping it only stops the process. When I had this issue, I had some minor errors in systems that were doing calculations. Fixing the systems and turning off calculations stopped the processes from causing the error.

That is correct but if your goal is to be able to sync without having to go through every system to turn calculations off then this is the way to accomplish that task.

If you're not using calculations and don't need to fix the calc errors, you're going to have to turn them off if you don't want to keep having to kill the worker.

Another thread on this issue (regarding Background Calculations for Color Fills), shows that the problem may be related to a corrupted Windows User profile, and that creating a new User profile can help resolve the issue in some cases.

It's 2024 and the solution works great for the suck calcs for toposolids - nothing else did.

True – I couldn't use the correct spelling, because that username was already taken.

-go to system tab
-open the down arrow from Plumbing and piping tab

-calculation and enable analysis for closed loop hydronic piping network

In the same revit session, open other project.

Had the same problem, after open other project I was able to save the first project.

I saw this elsewhere, opening a second project stops the "background calculations".

Worked with Revit 2023.1.
