Visibility/Graphics when Template Applied

Visibility/Graphics when Template Applied

Here's a real softball for the development team:

When a view has a view template applied, and a user hits the Visibility/Graphics button, instead of showing a dialog box with every option greyed out, prompt the user for options that allow them to actually do something, similar to this:

Top option in case some tabs in the VG window aren't included in the view template.

Middle to enable temporary view properties and then open the VG window

Bottom option to just edit the view template (which I'm so close to getting to work through PostCommand, but it won't pre-select the already-applied template)

I've been wanting this for a long time, maybe the window could be adjusted to something like this, so that the user is well aware that they're editing the view template.

Right now this is my workflow:

- I press VV

- I yell out: ah s***, there's a view template applied

- I close the window

- I go to the view template

- aaand finally open the model categories tab

This happens everytime and it is sooo anyoning

When a view template is applied to a view, I think the Visibility Graphics dialog should have new buttons or an override pulldown in the corner:

  1. Enable temporary view properties (which would enable all VG settings)
  2. Remove view template (which would enable all VG settings)
  3. Edit view template (which would enable all VG settings, and warn about how many views are affected - anything not affected by the view template should be disabled - adding a banner like @PieterL_TM mentioned would be a good visual reminder)
