As a student in sustainable development, a large portion of my studies have been directed toward the built environment. During these studies I became aware of vernacular architecture and using local alternative building material such as cob, straw bale, earthen bricks, green roofs, ect. While completing AutoDesk's Sustainability course for Building Performance Analysis, I became familiar with Revit. After taking significant time exploring program parameters, I realized they lacked options relevant for the aforementioned design styles. Albeit Revit already contains an extensive library of building component settings; including these styles of architecture and construction would further promote AutoDesk's position as a leading innovative tool for sustainable design and building. Having these and related options as parameters, enable these materials for assessment as viable project options. Because these materials are are generally less carbon intensive, considered a healthier material, and provide building and thermal mass it seems they would be more than appropriate for this program. I hope this comment receives it full weight as this could be an opportunity to include this design style into Revit while adding a new dynamic for the pursuit of net zero building design.
