User-Based Settings

User-Based Settings

I find it frustrating when working in a model that the current workset is set by the first person who opens the model. So when I open the model, it opens on whatever workset that person has chosen and I invariably forget to check it and draw a bunch of stuff on the wrong workset.  This setting should not be global; it should be user-based so my preference for which workset is open should be saved and open on the same workset all the time, unless I change it.

Similarly the Project Browser, which, in our models has literally hundreds of views/ sheets/etc., there are dozens of "+" tabs expanded, so I have to close them all or scroll forever to get to the view(s) or sheet(s) I need.  The Project Browser should always open with all the tabs closed / not expanded, so I can choose which tabs I want expanded.

I have voted for this for this idea. Although I do have a couple comments:

For the second part of this idea (which really should have been broken out into it's own idea), you can right click anywhere in the project browser and select Collapse All and then start the way you'd like.  To your idea though, if the data about what items you had open in your Project Browser was kept in that model assigned to just you, that would be good too.

I just found this other idea (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/make-project-browser-settings-user-specific-sorting-views...) which is basically saying the same thing as the second part of your idea.

@ kimberly.fuhrman, I think the second part of this idea should be removed and the worksets idea could stand on it's own here.

Thank you, @RicWeber . We do not split Idea posts (we can't split the votes), but certainly encourage you to add your votes to the similar post.

Thank you, @cdolanQJMFT , for your Idea submission!

Thanks! @RicWeber

While I appreciate the ability to right-click and select 'Collapse All', I would still prefer that the Project Browser open with everything collapsed.
