This is possible. Create View 1. Create View 2. Superimpose View 2 over View 1 in a layout. There should magnetically selfalign. If they don't autoalign, just use the Align tool and select a building axis as align reference.
We are using this technique to create formwork drawings all the time. We create a floor plan, then create some sections through it. Then we align all of those in a layout. Then use breakline tool to mimic local rebated sections.
This align / superimpose technique works great when you want so display first half of a floor aligned or partially overlapped with the second half of the next floor.
I know this technique but unfortunately it is not very practical as you have your superposition only in layout, which implies that it will be impossible to make the dimensions between two views, aligning is quite a tedious work and activating the underlaid view is impossible plus your dwg will consist of two model views (we still export dwg for our contractors and collaborators). With the underlay option you can activate it and deactivate it at will and get a correct render with only one view, please vote my idea, it will be a huge improvement of the software.
Yes please! The underlay feature has always been painfully inadequate. The controls don't make any sense, and the result rarely shows useful information. The ability to simply assign another view as an underlay (with halftone / graphic control, of course) would be extremely useful.
