UPPERCASE TOGGLE

UPPERCASE TOGGLE

This should be an easy one. I know something similar has been suggested but nothing was ever implemented. We have the option to select text and convert to all caps, but it would be helpful to be able to toggle all caps (via the highlighted button or similar) within revit so that any text that you input is uppercase. It's been a standard for a long time that annotations are in uppercase.

I have an old habit of looking at the keyboard for the first 5 words or so. This always results in me re-typing those first 5 words, usually when I switch to another program. Revit is literally the only program that I would ever use all caps in.

I know it seems minor to most that read this, but I would be willing to bet that there are a ton of us with this same issue. In the big picture, it is minor, but it seems like it would be an incredibly easy feature to implement for one of the talented engineers at Autodesk.

It would be even better to be able to set this in the text note itself in the type parameters and also for text and multiline text type parameters.

If its set to ALL CAPS then everything is always capitals no matter what, if ALL CAPS is not capitalized then you can capitalize however you want.

Why not just use an ALLCAPS font, that was my solution.

@Mark_Engwirda , This is actually the first that I've ever heard of an all caps font. It's a good solution to the current set of circumstances, but I do think the option should be in the software as it's really the only type of program that I know of that we use all caps. I would have to assume most people aren't aware of the all caps font.

In addition to the annotations, I name my views, sheets, families, etc in uppercase as it helps to distinguish my stuff from the stock Autodesk items. That's not to say that that functionality is absolutely necessary, but would be helpful.

In the meantime, I will look into the all caps font.

@DrakeCanyonArchitecture Yeah definitely look into it, there are so many allcaps fonts to choose from and I have been using this solution for years.

BTW I don't disagree with your proposal as it will be built into Revit where as the allcaps solution requires the same font on each workstation for it to be consistent.  That said, installing a font is dead simple and they are generally free 🤗
