transparency for images and poly crop lines

transparency for images and poly crop lines

Hi,

we're missing the option to turn images transparent in the view. And pleas give us an option to apply a mask (crop view) for the loaded image. Sometimes you just want to see a little part of the image and you don't want to use photoshop again.

Greetings

Lennart

Every issue of Revit I am shocked that this hasn't been included.  I came here today to finally make a request myself after seeing that 2017 STILL did not include a crop image function.

Even MS paint has a crop function for images!

Can we have an option for transparency in inserted images?  I've been trying to match elevations for our designers and I can't put entourage in if they can't be semi-translucent.

Thank you so much for your input.

Due to my company's interest in Revit (KB-BimStore), after we launch 80 enhancements for Revit detailing, we plan on making Revit Raster toolbar with another 15 to 20 tools.  It will not only have transparency editing as you are requesting, but image editing as well.  I am not entirely sure of the potential as I need to talk to my developers, but we would also like to incorporate text recognition, and possibly raster to detail line conversion.  This release would be towards the end of July of this year.  If there is anything else I can do for you, let us know.  Thank you again for your time and patience!

Sincerely,

Bonjour,

Cordialement.

Revit should add the feature to adjust an Imported Image's intensity like fade out or even transparency just like AutoCAD can in Wireframe/Hidden Line Display mode.

Area Object Link | Attribute Modifier | Dwg Setup | Feet-Inch Calculator
Layer Apps | List on Steroids | VP Zoom Scales | Exchange App Store

I agree with this. I hate to keep wanting features from AutoCAD, but being able to fade and crop images without using an external software would be great.

I need to add a google image to a master plan and right now I have to do that layout all in autocad, having to export the projecto from Revit and edit that export lines, everytime there is an update. It's the worst workarround ever. Please it's more that time this feacture is implemented.

Dinging this one after a year of the last comment....as I try to change the transparency of a linked image....

I'm repeating the request to implement adjustable transparency for imported images.

AND transparency and colorization of imported PDF's, like in AutoCAD.  (since R.2020 now can import PDF's)

If you can't handle this quickly (it's been 3 years since the first post) at least allow the halftone check box to work (in override graphics in view) until a better fix is done.

Same request here. Been complaining about this one for years. Figured it's time to make it official. We're now Revit 2023. Where's the customer support at? Have to be able to crop (any form) and adjust transparency for imported images. Pretty basic when one wants to produce 'quality' plans/sections etc. I see the requests go back as far as 2016!! Too expensive a software not to have this standard!

Searching for ways to add transparency to images imported into revit I found this forum. It's truly unbelievable that something so simple that helps with board assembly hasn't been done yet. We are already in version 2024.

Revit will honour a PNG image with alpha / transparency mask, so just use that - it works perfectly.

@tw_nordic Would you care to explain how Revit will honour a PNG image with alpha/transparency, I cannot figure it out. We tried to make a site plan that showed some hand drawn tree tops around our buildings. They all ended up with an ugly white passe partout. Layouting was done outside of Revit afterwards.

Sure - given that you have a PNG image file that has an alpha channel with a mask for transparency, then Revit will honor that when the file is placed as a link. As seen in the example below the image (placed in foreground) is displaying above model elements with transparency intact.

However, this will not work for annotation categories, like Filled Regions (idenpendently of foreground / background) or text.

Please make it so you can change the transparency of linked and imported images. Thanks.
