These improvement ideas are based on feedback we received from an actual Revit user at a customer organization.
1. Object Selection Issue When Section Box is Enabled in 3D View
Currently, when a section box is activated in a 3D view, objects within the section box are often difficult to select accurately. This is especially problematic when objects are partially intersecting with the boundary of the section box, resulting in inefficient workflows.
-Request: Improve selection accuracy for objects within a section box, or add filtering options to assist selection.
2. Section Box Is Overwritten When Copying View Orientation
When copying the orientation (camera angle) from View A to View B — where each view has a different section box — the section box from View A is applied to View B as well. In practice, users often want to align the camera angle while preserving each view’s unique section box.
-Request: Add an option to copy only the view orientation without overwriting the existing section box (e.g., “Copy Orientation Only” feature).
3. Unstable Snap Function When Using Groups
When moving or copying a grouped set of elements, snap points frequently fail to attach to the intended locations. This is particularly problematic when trying to align based on a center or endpoint within the group. As a result, users often need to ungroup and regroup elements repeatedly, which is inefficient.
- Request: Enhance snap recognition within groups so that individual elements' snap points behave similarly to standalone objects.
