Slab set down/up tool

Slab set down/up tool

a tool that allows us to create set downs / ups of a nominal distance into slabs. For example, set down for wet areas and slab edges or block out zones above for service runs. Current methods such as a creating a full depth opening (with edit boundary or shaft tool) and then placing thinner floors inside or face/floor based void families are clunky, error prone and slow the model down.

I think this is a great idea. I think because revit often doesn't have a tool to achieve fairly common construction items like this, users of the software are just used to finding some other alternative/work around for accomplishing the same thing. Every project I've worked on has always had multiple set downs. I would love to see a tool like this.

Hi Matt,

thanks for your comments on my post.

Hope that Autodesk should have a better way to model these things.

Enjoy Revit.

This would have be really handy, slab set downs! perhaps Autodesk should send a list of questions like this to all registered users to let them vote on- if I had known I would have voted yes!! Perhaps just send a list 2-3 times a year of all current questions, and those who want can vote?

This is still a very desirable feature as every concrete slab has a recess for tile, or a sloped garage floor.

I am looking for this feature too funny most of the search results are Australian. Guess it's only called setdown here in Australia. in the States it's called depression. or maybe the other countries just don't use them so there is no need to make such feature. just like the shadow diagrams.
