Additionally Revit needs to handle adjustments to level elevation changes more robustly. It isn't uncommon for elements to be deleted without warning when a level is deleted. With this feature we could remap the elements first to a new level and then safely delete the old level.
Good idea! This would be a very helpful option. In addition to the examples already give, I sometimes come across two or more levels on top of each other, at the same elevation. A user creates a new one in a section or they come in when binding a link and checking the 'include levels' option. I could use this command to quickly re-associate elements with a different level. This command might have two user options; move to relative position and lave in place. The second option would be what happens when a link in bound and the 'include levels' is not selected... and there is no corresponding level in the host model.
This is one of my most-wanted features. There are Add-Ins and Plugins that do this already, but they cost an arm and a leg for something that should have been included in the base software from the beginning. Revit deleting items (Without Warning) after deleting a level is plain unacceptable. At least give us a warning of the deletion if you're not going to implement a robust level selection feature.
We require the ability to select everything hosted to a particular level so, when required, we can isolate all these elements and re-host them to a new level.
At the moment when one of our levels has to be deleted, we have to go on a long, long, long and tedious hunting process to find anything hosted by such level and re-host them to a new level. Easier said than done.
When manually re-host the obvious groups and elements and when we think we are done, we delete the level only to find a lot of things disappearing. Close without saving, open again and continue the hunting process. Repeat multiple times. The worst thing is you are never sure when you are finished!!
I have reached the point when deleting the level doesn't prompt any warnings and I am led to believe that this time was safe to delete it without losing anything. WRONG.
I then open the file again only to find multiple elements missing!!
