segment section lines which are not perpendicular

segment section lines which are not perpendicular

I received a request from our Enterprise Priority customer recently, they want to create a section line for the stair below:

Currently, we can create segment sections lines, but they must be perpendicular or parallel to each other. Their workaround is to create two separate sections and combine them to make it look like one section.

If we can choose a random line and create the section line accordingly, that would be great. For example, create a section for a curved stair and parallel to the curve center as shown in the image below:

Thanks!

Indeed, it would be great if we can create a bended section to check free head space of complex stairs and slopes.
This function will also be very useful to create unfolded section or elevation views, which are needed to make complex (bended) facades constructable.

All these topics (and this one) are all addressing the same problem and offering the same or very similar solutions. I think these topics should be merged together into one.

Do you know how to merge existing Ideas? I really think it is a good idea to collect all similar ideas and increase its impact!

@duanx only moderators can merge ideas. You can reach them by using the report button you see under each post.

@duanx seems like the moderators merged all the ideas but this one. Perhaps you could ask them to merge this idea into this one: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/flattened-curved-elevations-sections/idi-p/6255768

With over 3700 ideas, it's important to combine very similar or identical request in order to make some impact.

It would be also highly desired to be able to create curved section lines especial in bridge design. On behalf of a customer from Germany let me publish this draft:

segment section lines which are not perpendicular are badly needed

I work in entertainment industry where geometry can get quite odd and sections like this are often needed.  This would be VERY useful.
