Schedule Text Case

Schedule Text Case

Can there be improvements to Revit Schedules to change the have a check box like in Autocad to make all text regardless of Parameter Title case? For example Revit System parameters are "Sheet Name, Sheet Number" along with other Revit System parameters can there be a check box that makes all text UpperCase so you don't have to Retype the parameter in all caps to keep consistent letter case?

Can I ask why you are doing everything in Upper Case?

Our company Graphical Standard is all Caps for Schedules, Notes, and Text on drawings. So this issue comes into play when I create sheet list or things with out of the box parameters but the designers/ end users make everything in that parameter Uppercase, except when the schedule is generated everything is cap but the ootb box parameters, I could easily have my users go back and retype them but that would be a ridiculous amount of time.

I like the idea but would also like it extended to include the scheduled values, not just the parameter names. Check a box, and everything in the schedule becomes upper case. That would be great.

There is no way to vote on this idea...?

Upper case changes can be done, for the most part, using Dynamo. I cannot get one parameter using Dynamo though. It is a "Comments" textual parameter that is an instance put on all our component families that we schedule. Just for clarification, I am in the Food Service Industry.

I just figured out that if I edit the family instance instead of family type in my Dyanmo I can now set Comments to upper case.

When formatting a schedule the ability  to toggle how text will be exported and appear on sheets. Wether the text is hard coded within Revit (user cannot change) or it is a value determined by the user.

The options required are as follows (screenshot from AutoCAD)

Text appears 1.JPG

Structural Usage seems to be hard coded within Revit, thus requiring the ability to format how the text case appears. It will look un-neat when some cells are "Sentence case" and others "ALL CAPS"...

Love it!  We receive data from multiple sources and it's impossible to get this all lined up at the source.  i.e some upper, some camel case etc.

It should be resolved with a simple tickbox function.

As a workaround we have found UPPERCASE fonts to use, but like you hear everywhere in the Revit environment, it's a "workaround".

There is a very simple script in Dynamo Player to change Sheet Name to UPPERCASE.  You can just modify it to include any other Element Types and Parameters.

Toggle Case for Schedules Please 🙂

This is a much needed feature, and the carpet-bomb approach of changing the names to uppercase is not a work-around. For instance, having room names in plan view, it's more appropriate to be title case, but on a schedule, with smaller text and a strict requirement that text be a minimum size (0.1" height for instance by many jurisdictions) the schedule must reflect that same text in upper case. AutoCAD does this very well in table formatting, also allowing you suffix, prefix, and format text at a row, column, or cell level.
