Right Click Copy and Paste (in same place as default)

Right Click Copy and Paste (in same place as default)

Cut and Paste is primordial basis of GUIs. Why make us go to the ribbon or type shortcuts when it could be done with a right and then left click? I wouldn't write it unless I thought I had to but yes...paste = paste in same place.

I lose count of the amount of times that I do this but why can't Revit have the option to right click the mouse to copy, cut, paste to/from the clipboard?

Maybe because ideally speaking one is not supposed to rely on the Copy/Cut/Paste from clipboard function except in very particular cases and most probably because using ctrl+C or ctrl+X and ctrl+P do the job and serves the purpose more consistantly and is more reliable than mouse clicks in popup menus...and it is still there on the ribbon...in other words no added value

Just a thought...but good luck on that idea

You never copy/cut and paste aligned etc?

It could be done as a keyboard shortcut but it would be more natural for me/easier/quicker to have it as a right click option.

It would simply be a redundant feature the option for paste "Aligned to..." is available both in the Ribbon and again and as hotkey short cute

ie: how can a right click to pop menu then scroll and left click to get to submenu and again left click be any easier than 2 clicks on the ribbon or setting 1 keystroke to get to any of the options made available in the Paste drop down menu!!

Do I ever use paste aligned? to a certain extent yes; read again "in very particular cases" ... if you want be to be more precise, maybe 4-5 times generally through out the very early stages of a project... probably the technical draftsman uses it more . Still in my opinion that doesn't justify the brilliant idea 🙂

yet another example of something Revit could implement from CAD.

...and before anyone pipes up about how 2 programs are coded differently, yeah I know that!!! Its just another strength of CAD over Revit

@Simon_Weel @Thanks Simon. I mean specifically with a right click menu as an accessibility feature. Your thread has some interesting responses that ask “what happens if you switch  view/level before pasting?” This could be addressed in three ways in the right click menu

1) simply “paste” in same place always

2) “paste” in same place or  “paste” to current view/level if one switched prior to pasting

3) give all paste options in right click menu (I think this is overkill and cluttered UI)

Or maybe a shortcut to Paste to Same Place and Paste Aligned to Current View.

I personally have "Paste Aligned" mapped to Ctrl+Shift+V.
