Revit Integration with Excel

Revit Integration with Excel

We need a lot to have a full- direct integrated tool between Revit and excel,

which enable us to export an excel sheet from Revit , update the schedule and the exported parameter values in excel , import again in Revit , and by default all updated data that has been modified in excel , to be updated in Revit too after import.

You can bring all of the data from a .CSV file into excel in a way that suits you. .CSV can be used by more than just excel, that's the difference.

@CFNBen

in a way you are correct, however, .csv files are annoying to work with and require additional time and effort to organize them in excel.

moreover, this is only for the export from Revit into excel.

the other way around is also required (from excel to revit)

it's nice to be able to print my whole project directly from revit. with everything organized in sheets, using the same style, and also mentioned in the list of drawings. (without the need to create dummy/blank sheets and print the schedules from a different software)

@wr.marshall yes exactly. the ability to save to .xls and .xlsx

It can be done revit 2022.

@jazzsharma200 , it is now possible to export to a .csv file, however it is not possible to link an Excel file into Revit at this time.

@elzohry2007...I support this idea (and voted), as why company need to use plug-ins (like Diroots) where Autodesk can add this excel functions in Revit? Even Diroots is offering free, it does not mean Autodesk developers will not improve the Revit software.

I am urging and requesting Revit software API developers to add full functionality of Revit data management and calculations similar to Microsoft Excel as essential improvement, not as new features. Revit schedule is already inside but needs lots of improvements.

I saw the status of this is still 'Gathering Support' until today, hence this was raised since 2017. It has been 4 years now and only few added features was added. I understand Adesk is relying on votes before actions to be done, this idea is essential for design and construction firms, why Adesk is not seeing this way?? Why their base of actions to consider this to be developed is still on the 'votes'. Frustrating!!!

I think it would be great if you could directly link a revit schedule with excel. Its easier to format and edit there. On big projects, I can see this being a huge time saver.

Thanks Kimberly,

I just think it would be great if you could like an excel document as easily as you can link CAD. It really would make a big difference by saving a bunch of steps.

Going to a few of the ideas I've like and have been periodically tracking over the years, and giving each of them a bump. Since 2017, it doesn't look like there has been any movement from Autodesk on this issue.
