Revit 2024 user interface too light

Revit 2024 user interface too light

The properties tab and project browser in Revit 2024 have lighter colour/ less contrast compared to Revit 2022 and therefore are much harder to read. See below screenshots. 2023-05-10_13-49-18.jpgCould this be please fixed.

One suggestion: under Options->User Interface->Visual Experience, add colour 'overrides' for things like Menu Text Active, Menu Text Disabled, etc.  These would be pre-programmed to a default setting tailored to the overall interface mode (i.e. light or dark), but be tweakable by the user.

I am using Revit LT 2024.1 and I don't have the option for "Visual Experience."

The lack of boxes around drop downs also makes it much harder to find/select. For example: 2024 looks like this:

while 2023 looks like this:

Please provide a way to go back to the U/I or at least increase contrast!

With the new light contrasting view (especially on the properties browser) I can't see whether an element is selected at all. All the texts in the boxes are just half tone to me.

AUTODESK @Anonymous PLEASE FIX ASAP OR PROVISE AN OPTION TO REVERT IT BACK.

The design trend of gray text everywhere is silly, and Revit 2024 takes it too far. The entire project browser looks like it's grayed out and inactive.

Autodesk please fix this. I thought something was wrong with my monitors or card. The super light text looks like 72 dpi. Absurd. Miserable to work with.

Just installed Revit 2024. I would agree that overall, the program has become slightly more difficult to navigate. Contrast should be upped.

Please make the current gray text the standard for dark theme and bring back the black text for the light theme.

It's so horrible, I'm so sick of "new and improved" interfaces continually making this less friendly.  I'm really struggling to read the toolbars now - What in the Ever Loving H...ll

PLEASE!  Stop fixing things that aren't broken.

Even greyed out items should be legible. Some are so low in contrast that it's very difficult to determine what is disabled.  ADA minimum contrast ratio 4.5:1 should be held to regardless of light/dark/whatever theme.

@akingSXGWC said "Stop fixing things that aren't broken." This is EXACTLY it.

Out of all the bug reports, complaints, and feature requests AutoDesk receives, did they honestly ever receive ANY feedback saying "the interface has too much contrast, it's so distracting, please make it much more subtle"????

No.  They just decided to change something for the heck of it, perhaps to 'prove' that they are constantly trying to make this program better all the time.

Oh, the irony!

I'm sure it will be fixed by Revit 2026...

I am frustrated by the properties drop-down. Having headings light grey and the types darker grey is counter-intuitive. Headings are usually darker, and previously had a dark grey background. Very disappointed and very frustrated by this change.

Please do it.

I dont use RVT2024 anymore, my eyes hurt because of this ****.

Hate the low contrast.  I can barely find the sliders. Shockingly bad. Please add a high contrast mode for us people who actually use this software!

Autodesk must fix this! It's giving me headache. It's like you're eyes are constantly out of focus. For me a reason not to use R2024 if possible. I'm working with Revit full-time since 2007, but this is the worst upgrade ever.

Again, pure backwards insanity.  This thing is called the "type selector".  What do you need FIRST to find a type? Usually the family name.  What's the hardest thing to see in this interface? The family name.

What is it with software designers in general these days that they believe they must fisher-price the icons and interfaces? As an older user with bad eyesight; these new lighter, cartoonish icons are a real headache - literally. I can't look at this interface much longer than an hour without getting headaches. The dark theme is a tiny bit better, but still no where near what is needed for contrast. Please, make the UI user customizable - what works for the  20 year old gamer does not work for the 60 year old engineer.

Right there with you friend.  I blame Google for pushing the "flat" design craze so hard.  It just makes things easier for them, but harder for us, who need a denser interface.

You know, it's been over 6 MONTHS since this thread was started.  How difficult is it to at least change a few colour values?  AutoDesk clearly doesn't care about this.  They won't even throw us a lame "we're sorry and we're working to make some changes for the next update".

They evidently have priorities bigger than reaching out to paying customers.  If we're really lucky, they'll address this for Revit 2025, but mark my words -- they will NOT be touching 2024.  Costs less to have us suffer and wait for their divine grace to come when they will it.

Congratulations, AutoDesk, at finding new, innovative ways to disgruntle your customer base!

Hi all,

Friendly reminder that yelling and screaming is not a good way to get a favor.

Also, friendly reminder that most commenters on this thread are signed up for email replies.  We hear your screams more loudly than Autodesk does.

Thanks!
