I would like to see a "render appearance" mode added to Revit, in addition to (or instead of) the "realistic" mode.
Realistic mode shows everything in color, but when I render a view, the colors in the finished render are drastically different from the colors in Realistic mode. Which means to get a render to look right, I need to:
Guess which materials will give the right render appearance.
Wait for the view to render.
Figure out all the materials, etc. that need to be changed.
Guess which changes might work.
Wait for the view to render.
See whether the changes made things better or worse.
Rinse and repeat...

You get the picture. It's exhausting, frustrating, and way too time consuming.
If Autodesk could add a "render appearance" mode that shows the colors and lighting as it will show up in the finished render, it would save a ton of time and frustration. You could make a change and hit Apply, and see right away whether the change is better or worse and if it needs further adjustment. Even if that mode would work a little slower than Realistic or Hidden Lines, it would still be faster than having to wait for a render every time you adjust something in order to see what it will look like.
