Remove this error: "The selection can’t be pasted because it is not visible in this view."

When using copy and paste (CTRL-C --> CTRL-V) an error is raised if the item being copied from is outside of the crop region of the current view.

This error disrupts production flow. Instead of just pasting the element at your current mouse cursor-click location, you have to cancel this error, turn off the crop, paste the element then turn the crop back on again.

No one in the solutions forum was able to tell me why this is a good error.

Thanks

To clarify, this error only happens when annotation crop is turned on.

Most views don't need annotation crop and should have the setting disabled.  For example, in an enlarged plan, you could theoretically copy-paste all room tags from an overall floor plan to your enlarged floor plan and then enable annotation crop instead of deleting the extra room tags.  But this is a bad workflow, and you should just tag rooms on your enlarged plan instead.

The only reasonable use case for annotation crop is if you have elevation markers visible in an enlarged plan, but you probably should just hide the elevation markers individually (or through a filter) instead of turning on annotation crop.

@ks2_wmb Annotation crop is important when dependent views are used.  We use dependent views when the plan is too large for the sheet, since it allows us to place all the tags in one view, and then adjust what areas are shown on each sheet.  Annotation crop then makes sure that annotations for elements at the edge of the crop are turned off.

I agree that this error is annoying and should be removed, or only appear if the element truly wouldn't be visible when placed at the mouse cursor location.

This is a particularly egregious error that makes zero sense. Fix this stuff, autodesk!!!

Found this when looking for a solution. It should be removed. I'm currently working on a very large project with dependent views and if I turn annotation crop off there are many things "floating out in space" from the view.

It's a lot of wasted time to turn crop off then back on every time I want to paste text.
