This is already possible as Kate described, however, this dimension chain option should need some refinement/improvement: should act more like the chain dimension in Allplan, more intuitive, more responsive.
@KateMorricalTowne Yes, you can delete it, but then the 2 strings would get separeted. When you move one you have to manualy move the second (imagine having 6 of those in multiple views...)
What would be handy and maybe it was not fully explaned is this. We would like to highlight with diferent color or hide one of the part of the dimention string , for example to highlight the corridor dimentions for accessability floor plans in a dependent view. Right know I'm doing a blue dimention on top of the overall, but if I got the draw order wrong, I need to remake them, because there is no draw order edit for dimentions. This solution would be better that solving the draw order actually. Hope people get past you comment and actually vote for this one!
Thanks for clarifying! Maybe this could be accomplished with something like an "align" lock? I can see that being useful for co-linear strings, or for stacked dimensions. These already snap during placement, so adding a constraint seems like it wouldn't be too difficult?
I was hoping that it would be possible when you tab select the dimension segment you'd like to modify that you could choose how it is displayed. Right now we have the instance options for Leader, Label, and Equality Display. Maybe we could just change Equality Display to Display and provide the value & or line visibility along with the equality options. Then it would still be one string.
