Reference Labels for View Reference Family

Reference Labels for View Reference Family

ViewVsViewRef.pngMany, many thanks for making the Reference Label parameter instance based for Section, Elevation, and Callout Tags, but we need this available for loadable View Reference families as well! We need the same functionality across all view reference types.

While you're at it, leaders would be nice too...

You can add a shared parameter in the view reference family and the also add that same shared parameter as a project parameter set to views.

The view reference would then show that value.

You would have to edit the value in the original view as it would not be an instance parameter.

The issue is that view references are built in tags that have the actual view reference nested.

Doesn't really solve the issue as a View's instance parameter value cannot be unique for each instance of the reference.  Text would be identical for every tag (and difficult to edit). The factory solved this issue for Section Tags, Callouts and Elevations (which have similar structure) in R2026 by allowing the built-in parameter "Reference Label" to be an instance parameter in the tag family, shared between the loadable tag and the host family, not a reference to the View (which could already be accomplished by shared parameters).

My request is that View References be updated to provide the same functionality as all other view tags.

Agreed, I was just indicating you can have it be different from the built in ref label by using shared parameters.

I do believe they are working on what you are requesting but due to how View References are coded and constructed it is more difficult to achieve.

Hopefully we get it soon.
