Realistic Visual Style switcher

Realistic Visual Style switcher

On behalf of a user from Austria let me document a request about realistic visual style to Revit 2021.

In Revit 2021 as result of product enhancements the realistic visual style effects, colors significantly changed. Eg transparency is impacted and the color of sunlight varies slightly by time of day, and will cast currently slight yellow hue on a model (instead of using white lights). Because of this the visualization of graphics is very different now as it was in earlier versions.

Wish: Make possible to have a switcher to the "old" way of realistic visual style and this way make possible to get the old display in 2021.

I agree with the yellow hue problem, and I would also prefer more white light, but I'm not voting on this because I don't believe adding the legacy system back in is the right solution.

I had submitted initial rendered images to an AHJ using 2019.  Since the initial submittal, I've upgraded to 2022 and have made some changes to the design. I tried to render in 2022 and replicate the colors initially submitted using 2019.   Impossible!  With the new lighting engine you can't even produce a black color now matter what settings you use.  I think this a fatal flaw.  In real life, no matter what the lighting conditions are, black is black.

The new engine also impacts the final rendered image of the materials supplied with the SW.  The rendered image doesn't look like the selected material sample.  Either the material samples need to change or the lighting engine needs to be changed

Most 3rd-party rendering package require that you have a link in Revit for exporting the file.  Since I use Revit LT, I can't install any 3rd-party links.

I've discussed this with support and they tell me that this issue has been raised with development and they don't think it is a problem.  Again black is black and should be able to be rendered with any SW.  If you can't produce a black color the rendering function is useless.
