Railing supports instance based

Railing supports instance based

It'd be nice to have the railing supports to be instance based. Rather than setting them to a fixed number, this way you can add more supports for longer rails, and decrease for shorter ones...without having to create many railing families.

In the railing support values there are options for the support "Layout" Fixed Number,  Align With Post, Fixed Distance, Minimum Spacing and Maximum Spacing.  These options should get you closer to what you are looking for.  Plus you can copy a support and it will follow the rail path, or you can unpin and delete them as well.

@BDMackey  is the king of railings! Thank you for your input!

@bsulliv  Please let me know if this helps, or if you still want to continue with the Idea. Thank you for your submission.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'd like to continue with the idea. I'm thinking once you click on the railing, in the properties browser, you can have a box that controls the amount of supports as instances, much the same way you can adjust the vertical and horizontal grids for curtain walls.

Sounds like an interesting idea, @bsulliv !
