Quick access to visibility graphics

So, even though I am using a 16 core processor and a high end graphics card, when I manipulate 3D with trees visible  (I am working on an oak tree covered lot and it is essential to preserve as many as possible), it is, to say the least, less than smooth. Hiding the landscaping in the view works of course, but I am wondering if it would be possible to have a window with a stripped down version of VG, with just a few selected categories, of even items, that I can float on any screen (actually maybe one for each screen) so that I can quickly turn them on or off . I wouldn't imagine that would be too complicated, in fact it might already be there and I just haven't found it. Let me know.

I would suggest updating to revit 2019, in which you can move any window to a second monitor. Than, use your temporary hide/isolate commands (HH, IC, HI, HR) perhaps combined with "Right Click -> select all instances in view" to quickly isolate the elements you're interested in.

Alternatively, you could use temporary view templates.

Thanks Pieter for your comment.

The problem with temporary hide is that if you are already hiding other items, and then you rest it, you get everything back and then have re-hide other elements. I have been using hide in view/ category, but that is a little clunky for an “on/ off” situation. For instance I would like to be able to turn of my trees, adjust the position of the model, maybe just a little, and then easily turn them back on.

I guess this problem will eventually go away as computers become even more powerful.

You could also accomplish this with worksets. Put all of your landscape elements on a separate workset and then turn off the workset whenever you don't need to see landscape elements.

I do wish that worksets were available as a general tool and not just in centralised models. Regardless of what experts say, it'd damned really handy to have the ability to place elements on independent "layers" that can be turned on/off at will.

View Templates (possibly using Filters) can easily accomplish this.

I really appreciate all the feedback I am getting. Thank you everyone, I will see how these solutions pan out.
