Pre-select a category before entering VG

Pre-select a category before entering VG

Many times, when modifying graphics in a view, I find myself with the following process:
I want to modify graphic of a family (whose category I may or may not know). You have to select it, read its category in it's propieties, then enter VG, search for the category line (if the discipline filter is active), and sometimes search in subcategories (as in the case of room separators inside lines category).

I think the workflow would be much better if, when selecting any element and accessing VG, its category was already highlighted.

The process would be:

  • Select the element with the mouse.

  • Hit VG.

  • The VG window opens with the category line of the selected element already highlighted.

  • If you have nothing selected, VG would open as always did

It's a very simple idea that I think could save a lot of time and improve workflow in the long run.

@arq_42 You don't need to go into the full VG editor to modify a single category if you already that object in your canvas.

Right click on an object > select override graphics in view > by category > you will now be directly in the category of your choosing including the correct sub category such as room separation which is under model lines.

You can further reduce these steps if using a create keyboard shortcut, I have used OC.

e.g. click on a object and type in your shortcut > change the category as you like  🙂
