Pickbox size like in Autocad

Pickbox size like in Autocad

Is there any Pickbox size option like the one in Autocad? I would surely use one. Revit keeps highlighting all the wrong objects when i'm trying to select overlapping objects. I'm tired of using the TAB key to cycle trough selection options.

The Selection Cycling window in Autocad is easier to use: select all overlapping objects with one mouse click, then pick the one you want by clicking it in the list.

I'd be up for the inclusion of an optional 'list overlapping elements' command if you were to hold a particular key when you clicked somewhere!

Don't think you understand the "Pickbox Size" issue. If my understanding is correct, any element can have a infinitely large selection box because of reference planes/lines within the family. If they extend outside of the visually geometric size/shape of the element, and you hover over those invisible lines with your mouse, Revit goes "ah, there's something here, it's part of this element/family so that's what you'll get if you click here with no other inputs because that's 'on top.'" Please correct me if I am wrong!

@ipselute  You do have the ability to filter your selection set, at least by Family Category.

@CFNBen My situation is like this: When i hover my mouse on overlapping objects in Autocad, Autocad guesses the right object i intend to select every time. Every single time. More yet, with Selection Cycling activated, it displays a small list of the overlapping objects and highlights the object i select just to visually confirm my selection.

When i hover my mouse on overlapping objects in Revit, Revit suggests the opposite of what i intend to select. Every single time. I have to abuse the TAB key every single time. It's like a complete mockery.

I don't know how Autocad does it, artificial intelligence or whatever, but it makes my work a lot easier.

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones You're absolutely right. Filters IS one of the greatest tools in Revit. I just wish Revit would have a "local" filter tool , just for overlapping objects: just click on any overlapping object and select the one you want from a minilist. I have a situation with an floor edge having multiple overlapping objects: concrete beam, concrete floor, masonry wall , a building axis and a reference plane. I have to TAB a lot to get selected the only one object i want.

In other situations i have multiple rebar sets in concrete floors overlapping like crazy. I'm trying to hide all the objects i don't need, but sometimes that's not enough.
