Phase Filter Rule Relative to View

The implementation of phasing within View Filters is great, but it would be very useful in some scenarios to be able to make these relative. Right now, you have to select a specific phase for your Filter Rules. This can be handy, but having some relative options would also be very useful.

If we would like to implement some standards around visibility of things based on phasing, we would want to set this up within our template. We don't know what a project's phases will look like down the road, but we might know that this filter should override ANYTHING that is considered "previous" to any given view. If we could select an option for "Phase Created: is less than: Current Phase of View" this would solve having to create duplicate filters for the same thing OR ensuring that a user is adjusting the filter to the latest phase each time, etc. 

Most things about phasing and phase filters on views is relative to that view, it only makes sense to make the View Filters have the same options.

If this function were added, it would likely solve the forever-long issue of door swing angles across phasing so that when a door is placed in the existing phase it would appear at 90 degrees in the existing plan (because by technicality it would be new at the time of the existing plan), and at 30 or 45 degrees (user's preference) in a new construction plan, signifying it is now existing in the later phase. This is experienced by Revit Architecture users and is incredibly frustrating that the "smart" Revit timeline has no built-in solution for this. However, the suggestion made in the thread would likely solve the issue. 

I made two Generic Model shared families (one for 45 degrees and another for 90 degrees) and nested them both into a door family to test this theory, and it actually worked with three filters I generated; one for new construction response, another for demo (which could potentially go away), and the third for existing construction response.

The problem is that this method only works for 1 phase of construction because of the limitation of the filter in having to select a specific phase when using phase created and phase demolished in the filter. I wouldn't want to incorporate this solution company-wide because it is limited to single phase work as I stated. It needs to work smarter by recognizing the phase of the view that the filter is being applied to.
