Persistent Pin or Temporary Unpin Command

Persistent Pin or Temporary Unpin Command

I would like to have a new way to use the pin command -  Have two types of element pinning:

  • One would be a regular pin that operates the way the current method does
  • A 'Persistent' pin would be more powerful - it would automatically re-pin itself after the element has been unpinned and edited in some way.

This could operate somewhat like the 'Exclude Options' selection checkbox that automatically rechecks itself after a couple of selection commands.

Alternatively, it would be good to have one method of pinning, but two methods to unpin - permanent and temporary unpin

  • permanent unpin would operate as presently
  • temporary unpin would allow an unpinned element to be edited, then it would repin itself automatically.

The reason for this request is that there are some elements that we want to always remain pinned, but occasionally need to be edited, then always repinned afterwards - all too often someone forgets to repin the element after editing.

eg. Section markers - these have to be unpinned just to alter 2D extents in each view;  they need to remain pinned in order to not disrupt 2D annotation in the section view.

eg. Floors - these need to have their sketch boundary edited occasionally;  they need to remain always pinned so that they are not accidentally selected and deleted/moved/copied.
