Parameters visibility control

Parameters visibility control

When creating content for Revit, parameters are key player to making families what can update and modify easy. Sometimes, actually quite often need to do lots of parameters to make family working certain way. Parameters or creating lots of them are not problem. Actually I like to way how it is quite logical and easy to create even complex families.

But then coming big BUT... when uploading families with lots of parameters to project, all the parameters are visible for users. Most of users doesn't want to see all the parameters of family. For example there is casework family having lots of functionality. To make that family it maybe needs lots of different parameters to control those functionalities and all those "secondary" parameters also appears in project environment. It would be much more user-friendly if can control visibility of parameters in family editor and define what parameters are only visible for users in project environment.

So my wish is, please Autodesk, make parameters to possible to hide in project environment, so users can see only parameters what needed in project environment.

This has been posted a lot before: consider adding your vote to:

Parameter groups (this would allow you to show a parameter only when it's relevant: for example only show 'handle material' when 'handle' is on).

Hide or disable parameter

Thanks. Done for that now.

In these screenshots have some parameters what should be possible to turn off from users already in family editor, so they only can see parameters what meant to be showing in project environment. Sometimes need to do aiding parameters for main parameters to work. Good example are freely flexible objects and when needed to do that they are flexible by certain steps, it needed to do some aiding parameters to make that happen (in worst scenarios there will be lots of aiding parameters)
