New Sheets and Views

New Sheets and Views

I'd love to be able to create new sheets by right-clicking on the Main/Sub Folder header and have the new sheet automatically file into that project browser organization. Scrolling up to the top to expand two + marks and populate the organization parameters is a bumpy workflow that is whole unnecessary. If Revit could default the sheet number to the next in the series of the folder organization (rather the sequential next number after whatever was lasted edited), that would be awesome.

There is also no reason this couldn't be applied to views as well. Right-click > New View > select view type from pop out secondary menu. I realize this would only be possible for floor plans, area plans, and drafting views, but I think it would help some of my weaker Revit users work in a more natural flow.

Sorry, but this is the wrong forum for this request. For any new ideas, go to the Revit Ideas part of the forum (see my signature for a link) and submit the idea. This way others can vote for it if they think it adds value for them as well. The more votes, the more likely the feature will be implemented.

This forum is more geared towards helping troubleshoot/solve problems that can be solved currently.

@smbrennan Help me out here then. I'm no Revit Forums expert but when I scroll up from my post is see the heading "Revit Ideas" and the description of "Share ideas for future project features directly with the Revit team..." I also see a little vote button. Are you telling me this Revit Ideas forum isn't the correct Revit Ideas forum?

Not sure what you're referring to, @smbrennan , but I don't see any problem with the post.

It is in the correct forum, & Revit Ideas is NOT intended for troubleshooting problems.

I'm sorry all - I was going through the post too quickly and didn't realize it was on the Ideas board. My bad.

@Anonymous: Nice idea, George. Revit should harness the power of right-click menus more and more (like Autocad does). All those contextual options, like Chain or Multiple should be easier to access from right-click menu rather than moving the mouse across the entire screen every single time we need to check some options.

This is why Revit seems slower than Autocad in terms of user-time spent on completing individual commands.

Searching within the Project Browser is context aware. If you start at the top of the PB, it will search everything below it. If you start at a sub category, it will only search in that sub category. Right-clicking on any category or sub category should be able to create a view or sheet and pull the settings from the other items in that branch. Nice idea!

Yes! You should just be able to right click on a sheet and duplicate it (without any views attached of course). But duplicate the titleblock, sheet location within the list of sheets, and automatically number it like the one you're duplicating.

Please add a shortcut for the new Open Sheet option (right mouse click). Just to make my life easier.
