More explicit wall joins for layered walls

More explicit wall joins for layered walls

Revit allows us to work with several walls layered to create a single wall, eg. structural and finishing layers. This has the advantage of not requiring hundreds of wall types to manage all possible combinations of layers for fire rating, acoustic rating and wet areas where these vary for each side of the wall. We can use the Join tool to make the walls work together to host doors and windows, which is great, however when trying to create corners difficult corners Revit keeps wanting to join walls that are physically close even if they are functionally different - for example fire walls to finishing layers. I would like to be able to control explicitly which walls should join and which shouldn't. Disallow join is too crude, having only the options of all or nothing.

Note that Revit uses the term 'Join' for two different functions here, being lamination and end connection, this idea relates to end connection.

So I thought I posted an idea like this before....but can't find it anywhere.

What I wanted to do was to be able to edit the material boundaries like you can in Autocad Architecture....but it doesn't just change the 2D plan it updates in 3D too.

I think the ideas are similar enough in intent that they could be merged.
