Provide a way to display and to change the start point or flow direction of ductwork or piping so branch lines connect correctly. Adding this tool to the contextual ribbon of the selected item(s) may be a good place to put it. Also displaying an arrow in the direction of flow will help as well. This to could have the flip toggle associated with it.

Sometimes you don't always model your ducts or pipes in the correct flow orientation so when Revit attaches the branches it's fitting is going in the wrong direction. I know it's easy to flip the graphics of the fittings in Revit but if this is not correct when you go to push to Fabrication the fittings orientation is still not correct and just adds extra time to fix.

What's your ultimate goal?  Have certain fittings (e.g., duct tap 'shoe' fittings and pipe wye fittings (and the like) maintain proper orientation as related to the fluid flow direction?

Hi Martin,

Yes that is one goal. Another one is when we transition over to fabrication from Revit that the fitting(s) come in orientated in the correct location/position in the Fabrication software.

Being able to tag flow direction would be a great help as well.

Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea. Unfortunately, this idea did not get the support of the community over the last 6 months and as such we will not be pursuing it at this time. Please feel free to rework (titles and clear descriptions are really important) and resubmit this one down the road.
