Medical Equipment - MEP Systems

Medical Equipment - MEP Systems

The new category to Revit 2022; "Medical Equipment" is useful, but is missing the ability to serve a larger group than it currently is. At the moment, Medical Equipment cannot be associated to a Piping systems (or other system families), making it effective primarily for Architects.

If the Medical Equipment category could be able to associate to a piping system, similar to Pipe Accessories, the use-cases would skyrocket. The ability to color equipment based on the Med Gas piping system associated, simply by connecting it, would be very helpful.

To make the Medical Equipment category useful for an entire firm, allow the Medical Equipment category to associate to multiple systems similar to the Mechanical Equipment category. The ability to connect into the following systems would be very useful;

  • Piping Systems
  • Electrical Systems (Power, Control, Fire Alarm)
  • Duct Systems

OK, I am no expert at creating Mechanical Equipment families or even using them, but can you start your family as a Mechanical Equipment category and then switch it to Medical Equipment and thus still have the Electrical, Duct, Pipe, and Conduit Connector options??

I realize that this is an older post, so perhaps this has actually been implemented since this post was originally made.

I'm trying to paste a screenshot in here and it's not letting me.  Weird.

Hello,

Medical equipment spaces definitely need close coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP teams because even small clashes can create expensive changes later. It also helps to consider operational needs for staff and visitors when planning healthcare facilities. Local service planning matters too for example, resources like dispensary in mission bay show how healthcare related businesses prioritize accessibility, compliance, and patient experience in real world settings.
