When you create a matchline in plan views of Revit, that matchline will show up in all other plan views. This, however, does not work with Elevations or Sections. The only ways to get the matchlines to show in other elevation views are as follows:
1: create dependent views of your overall
2: duplicate with detailing
Problem with dependent views is you have to hide what you don't want to show in the overall view. All tags, text, dimensions, etc. show on all those views and it becomes more work to hide them from the other views.
The problem with duplicating is the matchline is a new element and if you have to move your boundary of the view it will not adjust on all other views. You can kind of fix this with reference planes and lock all of them to the same plane and that could work but with very large projects that need to use matchlines in elevations there tends to be thousands of reference lines and it just gets more muddy. But so far this is the best solution in my opinion.
I suggest that matchlines be redesigned to work more like how they do in floor plans and can be seen in other elevations. We can still have the elevation and floor plan matchlines separate as you would usually need different lines for both, but I want to be able to make one match line and have that show on all my other elevations and be the same element.
