Maintain Section Box control while editing

One of the most annoying things about editing In Place Models in 3D is that the Section Box becomes locked and unchangeable.  The same goes for Sketches and Groups.  It's like the Section Box is an object in the model and not a property of the view.  Not smart.

Please give us a Section Box that we can change while performing any kind of editing.

I would like to be able to edit the section box in a 3-D view when editing a design option. It is very annoying to have to exit the design option to shift the section box. Likewise for crop views in 2-D.

Hi: 

You should already be able to able to edit a section box in a 3D view while within a design option. If you un-check the box for "Active Only" near the design option setting at the bottom of your screen, then you should be able to edit the section box (as well as many other types of objects even if they aren't in the active design option.) 

This checkbox will re-enable itself once you finish within that design option so you will need to uncheck it again the next time.

Also, while editing an In Place Model the Section Box SHOULD CUT THE MODEL!!

You should be able to edit a section box and/or view crop when in an active design option. Switching to the main model is overly annoying.

If you uncheck the "Active Only" button while in a design option you can select and modify items, including view boundaries and section boxes, that aren't in the view option.

That checkbox is not persistent, but is easy to access for momentary tweaks.  I would prefer to retain the option not to select anything that isn't in the design option.  I would also be concerned that users would make a modification to see "Option 2" without realizing that it will remain when the view is changed to "Option 1"

I would appreciate if the "Active Only" checkbox stayed available when choosing to edit sketch based elements that are outside of the view.

Agreed, on second thought I think that the idea should be rephrased to:
[Design options]  "Active only" button - persistent behavior
To make sure the button is persistent throughout all options/ option sets and that it remains on, unless manually toggled  off.

This ! Very annoying to be having to leave group to correct the section box.
