Line Weight an Instance Parameter in Detail Families

Line Weight an Instance Parameter in Detail Families

You can change line weight inside a detail item family, but you can't make it a parameter. Also sometimes the line styles don't transfer well between a family and a project. It would be helpful to make the line style a parameter that you can change within your project if you want; to whatever line styles exist in that project.

Detail lines can be changed on a mass level and on an "override graphics by element" level but neither of these is what I am asking for.

Another way you could do this is just to make line weight of detail components editable in your project. So instead of ever having to make it a parameter, you could just make it possible to select the line and change the style of it, no matter if it's part of a detail component family or not. For this version of the idea I'm imagining something similar to the group editor, where everything goes gray for a second so you know you're selecting a line on your detail component and not somewhere else. You could have an option to change for just this instance or for all similar detail components.

why is that we as architects, engineers, or technicians always ask for these types of things but revit never implements these things to the actual software? this company is well budgeted to make the changes but never act on it...
