Improved Navigation in Touchpads for Laptops

Improved Navigation in Touchpads for Laptops

One Revit user had a particularly strong idea , which I support fully and feel very optimistic about. The User Interface in Revit 2019 is over hauled and very improved with its tab implementation and graphical improvement. One improvement that would make drafters and engineers very happy, especially those in school who work primarily on laptops, is the addition of a simple two-touch pan. Panning is the hardest but must important navigation feat to accomplish with a touchpad style mouse.  I pose the following question in addition to this request:

Would a survey conducted with a random sample of the Autodesk Revit community including students and engineers prove the usefulness of the two-touch pan?

There is enough interest that such a survey could be produced. This is not being requested as an essential feature, but rather a simple improvement which wouldn't seem to hard to implement using Autodesk's Revit API, because it is a simple pan function that would use the two-touch function of mousepads that partners and competitors alike already are beginning support more and more.

Time is money in the industry, and if time can be saved by navigation during a presentation without a mouse it makes the overall program more functional and accessible to a variety of platforms, in my humble opinion. Granted, I have been new to Revit, with only 18 months of experience, but I can say that this is an issue that all students have noticed and some have expressed interest in seeing.

P.S. Many such people may also have an interest in the function being added yet have none in utilizing Autodesk Revit message boards for Ideas, unfortunately. If more people at our Engineering company or school would hop on and request a feature, perhaps we could improve this already vastly community-based platform we know and love. Please support the touchpad Pan concept to assist our beloved ViewCube and  existing Pan features in the community!

Respectfully,
