Graphical Schedule for Windows and Doors

Graphical Schedule for Windows and Doors

There is a graphical column schedule, please add a similar graphical schedule for windows and doors... As a matter of fact, a graphical schedule would be very useful for all the families in the revit environment....  A schedule in which one can add a plan view and an elevation of the window or door... as we do in many countries...

We need possibility to automatically add door front view and most of all plan view for door schedule, so it would update with changes made to doors.

Like image below made in Arhicad.. Revit is step behind in scheduling those things.. Same goes for windows..

Agreed. Must be able to dimension the doors and the doors should be aligned - walls in the plan images and base level in the bottom image.

I fully agree with what is being said in that thread, unfortunately it seems that they are unable to comprehend more than one idea at a time... we need to feed them with small bits...otherwise they choke...it's autodesk ... what did you expect?

THEY HAVE NOT MADE ANY IMPROVEMENT RIGHT?

Also include Glazed Curtain Walls, (which are basically windows too, but misnamed).

It would also be very helpful to let users to manipulate the legends wia revit api.... you would save some of us from a lot of pains ....

If zou find this useful vote for this idea here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/graphical-schedule-for-windows-and-doors/idi-p/8224171   since it got buried into the depths of this "forum"....

Hi m_danm, obviously your ideal solution is that Autodesk include this functionality.

However if you really want this sort of functionality now, and at a cost, then ARUtils - ARLegend will do what you are after. It also does Curtain Wall windows as well as automating many other processes.

Note: I am the developer.

Hmm, you have done a very good job! You plugins seem to be very useful indeed, but I would buy only tutorials made by you not your plugins. Autodesk should do that not every user who already pays a lot of money for a faulty product - all other mainstream Cad software have the requested functionality ...

please tell me how could we persuade you to share your programming skills?

Hi m_danm, glad you like the plugins - sadly not enough to buy them, however we all make our choices. I do not really understand the comment about buying my tutorials as I really do not sell tutorials. Anything on YouTube is simply assisting clients to use ARUtils and these are all free to users.

Unfortunately my programming skills are what pays the bills, so giving it away for nothing is not an option. I'm sure you do not give away your time for nothing. This also ensures that the software can grow and develop and that bugs and new requests are dealt within days or hours and not sometime in the next few years.

The current ARUtils offering is the result of close to 6 years full time development. Some find the pricing high, others find it ridiculously low. We believe that the cost of the software can be recouped within 30 days in simple time savings so believe it to be great value.

Adding a field which would allow us to include the window and door elevation legends in the scheduling would be helpful. I work in a small firm which has the scheduling headings on the left side of the table to allow the information to sit under the legend elevations. (See image below) However, this is a achieved by manually drawing a table, and manually typing information into every table cell - This is very time consuming and we would love a fix to the this.

A fix to this would also require greater ability to format schedules to allow the heading to be aligned to the top, bottom, left or right of the table, as well as the text rotation of the table data and headers to be adjustable.

manually drawing a table, and manually typing information into every table cell  ?

Sorry, but that's just crazy.

I understand that it had been your company's standard, but you're using a new tool. Why are you not taking advantage of it?

Making the move to Revit should not be just doing CAD in Revit.

Now is the time  to look at your standards and ask "Is there a better way ?"

How much time (and accuracy) are you wasting redrawing and re-typing everything when it could all be automatic simply by changing your standard to a vertical format instead of horizontal.

You can present the EXACT SAME information, just in a slightly different orientation.

I take that back. It may not be the exact same. Using Revit's power to create the schedule will be accurate every time, whereas your manual process is probably wrong occasionally.

You should be asking what's more important: Accurate and effortless or making it look the same as it used to?

I'm half agree with you dplumb, grant should be using the schedule from Revit because you avoid a lot of possible mistakes, but, Why should He change the quality of his drawings? Why changing to use a new tool should drop the quality of your drawing?

Some people (like me) take proud on delivering a nice set of plans, which make the client happy, easy to understand, etc. I'm doing several things manually in Revit, beacuse I'm not going to drop my drawings quality and details because Revit does not have an option for that (Like a profiles legend).

I also draw the elevations of windows and doors from the legend symbol, but for now I'm doing the schedule and the legends separate to avoid mistakes in the information, count, etc. But is not optimal for me. I'm waiting for this feature to make my schedules like that again.

The tool you use should work for you and not the opposite.

This is a needed feature in Revit.

BTW Grant, that is a nice schedule, very easy to read, very communicative. I like the detail showing the height of the floor.

Legend can show any Revit Family, Plan, Front Elevation, Back Elevation etc...you can create different legend for different category, or all in one customised..Legend can show any Revit Family, Plan, Front Elevation, Back Elevation etc...you can create different legend for different category, or all in one customised..

It's beautiful Ganseh...

1. can you do it automatically?

2. can you update the quantities, and dimensions?

3. can you sort them, based on an a parameter?

4. can you add tags to them?

5. Long story short - can you make this legend dynamic?

If not then it's useless - think about projects with hundreds of doors - many time the same type of door in different types of wall... different master key groups and so on...

Thank you for your advice, you seem to work hard not smart...

What if someone forgets one door or one window?
