When you place a new component stair, there is a function for choosing railing type in advance (hidden on the far right of the ribbon). BUT there is no way to preset or choose the default value of the instance property 'Offset from Path' - it defaults to 25.4mm, which is one inch. This value is a horizontal offset of the centreline of the railing from the railing sketch path. This is an instance property, so it means that if we don't like the value of 25.4mm, we have to manually change it after the event, on every single stair. Well, that ain't gonna happen is it? Most railings get left that way even if it is not the office standard. In the metric world (hey, that is almost every country in the world but the USA), that extra 0.4mm gets doubled to 0.8mm (as it is offset on both sides of the stair), which means that many stairs are modelled with say 999.2mm between handrails instead of 1000mm. It is not the end of the world, but it is very irritating. So now we have many metric models out there with tiny discrepancies.
I would like to have control of what that offset is going to be, before the railing gets placed - preferrably as a default value associated with any given railing type; if not, then have it as an option on the dialog box for choosing railing types before placement - and of course it would have to be remembered between sessions. At the very least I would like it to default to exactly 25mm on a metric model;
