Just as phases are included in filter parameters, it would be practical if design options, worksets, workset owners, ... could be used as filter parameters.
It would be good if design option views could be self annotating from the information used to create and select them for display (rather than having to use dumb text in view name)

I use Design Options to create multiple plan options for home builders. Some of the builders have upwards of 20 options added to the completed plan sets. I place those option views on separate sheets from the main floor plans. I use letters & numbers to tag windows & doors, then place a window & door schedule on the plan & elevation sheets. My issue is this --- if a design option includes adding a window or door that does not exist in the Main Model, that optional window or door will not populate the window & door schedules of the Main Model. So, I can tag the optional element like I do in the Main Model, but the element will not schedule in the Main Model. I know I can create a schedule for a specific design option, but I don't want to have multiple window & door schedules that need to be placed & aligned on multiple sheets. I want all elements in the project, Main Model and Design Option, to all populate only the Main Model schedules.
I've searched Ideas and Forums for this issue, but didn't see my specific concern.
Using Design Options, create a schedule that shows both design option data (i.e. Room Areas). Doing so, allows us to compare the square footage of the rooms from one Design Option to another Design Option. Currently, you can tell Revit schedule to show only one Design Option at a time. You end up having to make a schedule for each Design Option and using other products to compare (i.e. Bluebeam Revu).
Sounds like a good idea to me but I think there would be a lot of things that would need to come first. Namely the ability for Revit to understand that rooms correspond to each other in different design options. Same with other elements like families. I'm not sure how you'd tell Revit this, and I think you'd have to, because I don't think there would be a one-size-fits-all method for Revit to know this on its own.
@mhiserZFHXSAll model Elements correspond to either the main model or a design option, that is not the issue.
I think more likely what is at stake is the ability to combine multiple design option in the same option set into one view or schedule etc, which is not functionality that revit currently has in any way.
@gandersonUNSYXI understand that, but Revit does not recognize that Room A in design option 1 is to be considered the same as room A in design option 2 when the rooms are laid out differently or in a different location. Same for if Table 1 is in x location in design option 1, and y location in option 2. Even though its meant to be the same table, Revit sees it as two separate tables that exist in one design option each, not the same table in different locations in both options. There would need to be to essentially give two elements the same ID so Revit sees them as the same.
@mhiserZFHXSyes i see now what you are saying, thanks for clarifying it but that also makes it seem even less likely that this gets fulfilled.
It can get even more complicated too, as you could have the say a conference room table in each option, but one is larger than another even though they both exist in their options corresponding room 307. The more and more i think about this the less i believe in revits ability to do comparative analysis.
Honestly Excel and Bluebeam seem like ideal ways to crunch this data.

I do think its possible, but there are countless ways it could be set up. Not sure how Autodesk would figure out the best option. There are also probably ways it could be done in Dynamo, but both setting up the model correctly and the Dynamo script would be pretty tedious.
It would be nice to be able to add a rule to a design option to control another design option to either turn off/ on with the option. Or an option can't be turned on if a pictural option is selected/turned on/off
