Filter Set Option – Combine and Apply Multiple Filters as a Group to Views or View Templates

Managing filters across multiple views and templates in Revit can be time-consuming and error-prone, especially on large projects. Currently, users must manually add and configure each filter for every view or template, which is inefficient and increases the risk of inconsistencies.

Proposed Feature:

Introduce a "Filter Set" option that allows users to:

• Create and name a set of filters (a Filter Set) with predefined rules and graphic overrides.
• Apply the entire Filter Set to any view or view template in a single action.
• Edit, duplicate, or update Filter Sets, with changes propagating to all views/templates using that set.
• Easily manage and transfer filter configurations between projects.

Example Workflow:

1. Create a new Filter Set and add desired filters with their settings.
2. Assign the Filter Set to one or more views or view templates.
3. When the Filter Set is updated, all assigned views/templates reflect the changes automatically.

Benefits:

• Saves time by reducing repetitive manual filter management.
• Ensures consistency of filter application across multiple views and templates.
• Simplifies project setup and maintenance, especially for large teams or complex models.

That goes in line with the idea of separating the complete "view template" concept by their separated tabs to give more freedom in their combination. Totally approve. The one were we will have more gains is in the Revit Links tabs - Filters is the second.

I completely agree with the need for more flexibility in the Revit Links tab within View Templates. Having the ability to uncheck or hide individual links—especially when managing multiple links—would greatly improve workflow efficiency.

Great idea — voted. Managing filters across a large set of view templates one at a time is a real time sink, and it's exactly the kind of thing that should be native.

Full disclosure, I'm one of the founders of GeminiBIM, but until Revit adds this flexibility out of the box, we've got you covered: our ADD FILTERS + add-in lets you bulk add or modify view filters across multiple view templates in one go, and TEMPLATE TRANSFER lets you push view template settings from one template to one or many others. Between the two, you can apply a set of filters as a group across your templates today — which is essentially the workflow being requested here.
