Faster IFC Export

Faster IFC Export

I can't understand why an IFC should be so harder to export (takes hours and can crash without really crashing) vs an NWC file.

We need faster IFC exports because we are losing days of our lives waiting for the thing to work. We cannot even do anything help in between with fear that it can undermine the export process. It's crazy.

There should be something Autodesk can do. Unless you are deliberatingly handicaping the process to prevent Open BIM alternatives. Fear not - most clients only ask them for paper weigh giga bites and for losing designers precious time. And we cannot change their mind even when we point that out to them - so please make our life easier. Thank you!

I find myself exporting a largish set of IFC files giving me time to write this comment. Looking at the revit process while that (hopefully) happens, shows that there is never more than 6% cpu used. Why is that? Cannot exporting to IFC be made multi-threaded? Why isn't this a background process that lets you get on with your work? Yes, to achieve that, you would have to freeze a model state in memory to allow for exporting processes to finish. So why don't they?
