Enable the possibility to create tags with elements phases names

Enable the possibility to create tags with elements phases names

This idea has been created on the behalf of an user from France.

The idea would be to be able to easily create tags that would either display the phase creation name or the phase demolished name (or both) of an element.

Currently, the only workaround is to create a shared parameter and manually fill this parameter value with the phases names.

Then to create a tag that displays this parameter value.

It’s possible to create a Dynamo script that automatically copy the phases name to the share parameters but this solution is not ideal.

FYI, an archived similar request had been created some time ago here:

And most importantly I think there should be a separate phase abbreviation (e.g. (E) for existing or whatever you want) that you could add to all of your tags. Especially in MEP side of things we would need those instead of the phase name or description since those take so much space from the tag. And since we would want to have those on almost all of our tags (objects in "New" phase would be without an abbreviation, but all the tags would be ready to show the abbreviation of some other phase when changed) the longer name or description would make the views really congested or totally unreadable.

I think the critical need here relates to the status of some data associated with an object in Revit is locked away in the project environment and never becomes available to annotation tag elements.  Besides phase, a lot of geometric conditions that report from system families like walls, pipes etc are never made available to tags.  Ideally all parametric data regardless of source should be report-able as a tag or in a schedule.  The example provided where phase conditions on an element are mapped to an abbreviation could be very helpful and setup in the Phase Settings dialog, then made available as a parameter into labels in a tag family.

@Anonymous - Why is this issue not being addressed? I search forums to find that still, we are needing workarounds to show information already contained in the database of information.  BIM is Building INFORMATION modeling.  We need to be able to use the INFORMATION efficiently.  Please start working to address this issue as well as many others we have all been waiting for. In too many cases these items are left unaddressed for years.  We all pay exorbitant subscription fees and expect that you continue to develop the software not just revise the look of the icons and menu arrangement.

Good idea.
Just need the same thing. Seems logic to be integrated.

The functionality is there so all we need is a way to control tags based upon phase and phase filters. I am overriding graphics in view with a dynamo script because that's my only option for efficiency. Its the only instance where override graphics in view is the solution and that's sad hahahaha.
