Easier to switch between different type of shaders, adding an simple drop down

At present, in Revit material editor, when you want to switch to a different material appearance asset in types like opaque, metal, transparent, you need to click replace button, browse in asset browser, select an asset.

There are other solution for quick switching materials like below:

Add a simple drop-down button with options in list like: Opaque, Metal, transparent, layered and glazing, or more protein types to list some default appearance asset, how do you think about this idea?

It would simplify workflows, give us huge flexibility and most probably save Autodesk a huge chunk of money, if they simply copied the whole material palette from Maya/3DStudio into Revit.

As mentioned in another post,  I would rather have a universal shader like Disney Principled BRDF instead.

That way you can change (or blend/mask) between, metal, dielectric, transparent and whatever you want, without loosing other settings.

+1 on Jan's suggestion of having a universal shader

A universal shader would be really nice, but being able to switch shaders without losing (most) of the would for us as well.

@Sophia9911  Are the "shaders" The same as the advanced materials in the API?

Would it retain information between different shaders?

What About adding "New" materials (PBR Or Physically BAsed Material) from teh API- (Same as shaders?)
