Revit's dimensioning tools handle linear elements well, but fall short with curved geometries. Placing dimensions on curved, circular, or arc edges currently requires workarounds such as reference planes, auxiliary lines, or manually placed points, making documentation slower and less accurate.
The proposed improvement is to allow dimensioning tools to natively snap to curved and circular edges, arc segments, tangency conditions, and other meaningful geometric references derived from arcs and curves — not only from linear edges and endpoints.
This would directly benefit projects with circular walls, curved façades, ramps, pipes and fittings, and families with arc profiles, improving productivity, precision, and documentation quality across the board.
The expected outcome is straightforward: dimensions placed directly from curved references, as reliably and intuitively as from linear edges and points — bringing Revit's documentation tools in line with its current modeling capabilities.
